Coaching at Swanley & District A.C.

Welcome to the coaching page of Swanley and District AC.

The club has Clubmark status; this means that we run a safe and friendly environment for all.

We provide structured coaching sessions once a week for juniors through to adults of all abilities.  During the summer months (April – September) we hold the sessions at Swanley Park, New Barn Lane Swanley and during the winter (October – March) at Swanley Technology College, St Marys Road, Swanley. These sessions are on Wednesday evening from 6.30 – 7.30pm.

We consider ourselves very lucky that, for a small club, we have a great depth of experience through all our coaching staff.  Head of Coaching is our Senior Coach Mike Barron, who is a level 3 coach.

All our coaches have UK accreditation, having attended courses to gain their coaching passes and therefore all benefit from insurance cover provided by UK athletics. Coaching licences need to be updated every two years, so all coaches attend seminars, workshops to gain more experience, ideas,  and to keep them up to date with current developments.

Swanley Panthers - Junior section
These sessions are run by Brian Pitkin. They are for the younger members of the club catering for 8 – 16 years of age. The juniors learn the basic skills  of throws, jumps and running. The older juniors take part in various competitions.

Adult Section
These sessions are run by Mike Baron. Structured sessions are devised to cater for mixed abilities.

Jogging Section
These sessions are lead by Chris Barnet, but can be integrated into the Adult section when necessary.

We are looking to encourage more coaches that can help on a regular basis. Anyone who is interested in becoming a club coach and has the time needs to fill out a form to Mike Baron Swanley and District AC, Swanley Park, New Barn Lane Swanley BR8.

The coaches are there to help all members. If anyone needs a personal schedule for an event they are training for then please inform the Senior Coach who will then put them in contact with the appropriate coach.

All members wishing to make a suggestion about the development of the club should fill in the suggestion form and return to the secretary of the club. We want the members to have the chance to give some input into how they would like to see the club develop.
